A large part of the process of moving home is having a significant decluttering session and clearing out anything you don’t want or need in your new home. While it makes sense to try and sell on anything in good condition not everyone has the time or motivation for this and even when they do there are often a number of items left over which are simply too good to throw away.

Items in good condition which are no longer wanted are often thankfully welcomed by charities in York who are either able to sell them on to fund research or used to offer support to those who need it most.

The Besom ensure that anything donated, from a humble tin opener to a piece of furniture is given to someone who will get the most from it. Community Furniture Stores – York

For almost twenty five years the Community Furniture Stores in York and Selby have been taking donations of unwanted furniture and white goods that are in decent condition in order to sell them on to members of the local community who need items and yet can’t afford high street prices. Providing a service where those in need may obtain much needed items for their home and a price they can afford has made a significant difference to many hundreds if not thousands of families.

If having decluttered your wardrobes prior to moving you find yourself with clothing you no longer want or need which could be used elsewhere you could get in touch with Clothes for Charity. They will send you out a bag which you can fill which may be either picked up by a courier or you may drop it off yourself. There are a number of charities in York that benefit from this type of donation and you may choose which you wish to help.
